Submission of an Abstract

All authors that want to present a Technical Paper in this Symposium must submit an Abstract, with a Summary of the Proposal and its main Conclusions trough the following link:

Submission Topics

The abstract must be classified by the author under one of the following topics:

    1. Advanced Well Construction Practices.
    2. Unconventional Reservoir Geology and Engineering.
    3. Well Completion and Stimulation for Unconventionals.
    4. Unconventional Field Development Strategies. Interference and Well Testing.
    5. Production Optimization and Artificial Lift.
    6. Return on Investment (ROI) and Enhanced Recovery.
    7. Digital Transformation and the AI Revolution.
    8. Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
    9. Operational Efficiency, Infrastructure and Supply Chain Development.
    10. Human Capital and QHSE Performance.

The focus of this symposium is on “Tight Gas”, “Shale Oil” and “Shale Gas” reservoirs. Other disciplines such as “Heavy Oil Recovery”, “Coal Bed Methane”, “Methane Hydrates”, etc., which could also be classified as unconventional hydrocarbon resources, are not part of the theme of this particular event.

Submission Process

  • Obtain necessary publication clearance and permission from your management.
  • Submit your proposal online by the deadline of July 2025During the submission process, you will have the option to select between these options:
        1. Manuscript: if you intent to prepare a formal paper (following the SPE guidelines) to be numbered by SPE and published in One Petro.
        2. Abstract Only: if you intent to submit your proposal for presentation only through a PPT. This way, your Technical Work will have no further publication outside the Symposium.
  • If your proposal is accepted and you wish to submit a manuscript for inclusion in the symposium proceedings, you will be required to submit it by November 2025.
  • All authors and speakers will be required to prepare a presentation (PPT) for review and approval no later than March 20, 2026. Speakers will be provided with further guidelines in due time.

Anti-Plagiarism Control

In an effort to further improve SPE’s technical quality standards, all submitted conference papers will be checked for plagiarism.

Selection Process

All Proposals will be analyzed and qualified by the Symposium Technical Committee. This Committee will select certain quantity of Proposals to become Papers for inclusion in the Technical Program of the Symposium (under Options 1 or 2).   

One person can be author or co-author of one or more technical proposals for presentation in the Symposium.
